Well this past weekend I and James had an exciting get a way for two. We flew into Calgary on Thursday night, slept at the Westin downtown(beautiful hotel) did both church book stores and even made it the distribution centre Friday morning, over $200.00 later we headed to the airport to pick my dad. Then we did a quick and I mean quick stop at Ikea and then headed out to Innisfail Alberta. Why you may ask would anyone go to a no mans place like that? Well as you can see in the pictures I got to go to my cousins wedding. My aunt and uncle have a trailer at this RV resort. It is a gated community out in the middle of no where. It was really pretty and some peaceful. On Friday we did the rehearsal and then dinner, it was wonderful to be there and not worry about what to do with my kids, we sat and just talked with everyone, then headed over to the resort centre to set up for the wedding. On Saturday my dad went golfing and James and I had the whole morning to ourselves. On Saturday afternoon I helped with all the last minute details for the wedding. running to make sure that favors were out at the place settings and wine glasses were all out and utensils were all there. On Friday night we also had fun folding the napkins in to boats as request by the groom. I got along great with the best man we had contests to see who could fold the napkins the fastest and the best. I won of course!! The wedding was a true fantasy and Kim looked great. I thought everything run without any problems and I loved being there with my family, it was a mini reunion since it had been since my marriage that we had seen anyone. Sunday I cried at our good-by's and the flight home got in a half hour early. As I sit and look back there are so many thoughts running through my head. How different we are with Mormon wedding how beautiful all the toasts were and how special her family made her feel on this special day. I remember how I felt when James and I got married and the promises we made to each other the sealer said the most beautiful words of wisdom to us and I remember all the special people who were there to share i my day. However it wasn't until Kim got married that I realized how important it was for me to be there and witness this wedding and I had a little pang of sorrow that my dad's side of the family wasn't there in the temple with me. I want so bad to be in the celestial kingdom with them. what kind of example am I to those around me for them to see how important the church is in my life, and last what should I be doing to make sure they are there with me forever. I want my children to be close with their cousins and understand why family is so important. I have lots to learn and change in my life to make our home a better place. I marvel that a wedding without religion has made such an impact on my life and I'm yet again grateful for the wake up call I got being there. Lastly I really understand that it is important to have to have mini holidays with James it has strengthened our relationship and when my kids are gone he is who I will have and I'm excited that it is him.

  1. Nice to hear about your weekend. I will try not to be too envious. I can't even immagine not worring about kids for that extended period of time. I understand where you're comming from with family. Things will all work out, I am sure you are a wonderful example.
